Gen 4 OEM Airbox Help (MORE PICS)

ok TN,

me and my friend are trying to take out our stock airboxes but are having a little difficulty.

What is this piece under the piping, it is attached. And how to remove it? I ask because my replacement will not have this piece.

Update: Under the green tape is a bolt that attaches to a bunch of wires....Unbolting it will be no problem right?

if you're referring to the plastic box attached to the air intake tube, then that's a resonator. it helps quiet down the intake. you'll be fine without it.

No on the right side, which you can't see from my pic there's a bunch of wires held by the resonator by a bolt. If I unbolt it, will they hold up without being attached to the resonator box?

the one on the metal spring looking one is your throttle cable. it is stiff enough that it'll be fine. lots of people put aftermarket intakes on their cars. if it really worries you, you can zip-tie the wires somewhere to keep them from hanging. Just pay attention to whether they go to the engine or not. Remember that the engine moves during normal driving, so you need to allow some slack in those wires.
