3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
And i was wondering if its worth the money. Fits correctly and will it add a bit of power and noise from the engine? Basically i dont want it to cause more problems than its worth.
Secondly i see most of you also use a magnaflow muffler. (i don't know what would fit so if anyone could link me one, that would be great)
Obviously im going to have to take it to a shop to get welded on but i don't want anything that's going to be too loud (you know the ones, its an old shitbox yet you can here it in a car park from inside the store.)
Your not going to get any noticeable power. Maybe 2hp. Yes, you'll get more noise. But for $200, I'd spend it on something else. The only reason I have an Intake (cost me around $70 to make) is because I need onefor the Supercharger.

5 Lug Corolla WHAT?
youll get no power but the sound is great. the V6 with even an intake sounds great. and with even a generic muffler it sounds awesome. if your not thinkin performance in the future then id stick with the cheapest intake(even home built) and a generic muffler of your choice.
Well id love to supercharge but in australia you cant ahve a supercharged or turbo'd car till your 25. you wont get insured so pretty much cant drive the car.

Can i get a link to a generic intake??
This is a link to generic piping you can use from the TB to the Air Filter.
You'd also need a MAF adaptor for the V6, spectre makes those as well.
Go to autozone or kragen for the pipes and such... BUT for the filter I wouldnt use spectre! K&N, Injen, AEM, and several others all make very good quality filters.
And what is this BS in AUS about turbo and s/c'd cars? Do they realize some cars come stock with those?
Also how the hell do they check? Emissions or somethin? UGH!
Well from my understanding there is a blacklist of cars that p platers cannot drive. ALso for you to drive your car it must be insured and you wont get insurance under 25 with a turbo or sc car. it sucks as if i did supercharge my camry id probs be the only one in the state.
Anyway cheers for the feedback. Id prefer to get a premade intake as it seems like alot less work
