Hi I just noticed the other morning when I started the ignition and both fans started to spin even when the engine is cold - isnt it supposed to be no fans when cold - first fan will start spinning when it has reached optimal temperature, then both fans spin when the aircon is selected?

Is this a relay or switch problem - I thought it was an open thermostat in the past because my engine temp needle never goes up to the middle of the temp gauge - more like just above the bottom line

What engine, what year?

Is your A/C on all the time? Is the car in the defrost mode?

Its a 99 Camry 2.2GX 4 speed - aircon or defrost not on at all

My next guess then would be a sticking cooling fan relay. Locate the relay and try to switch it out with another exact relay from another non-esential system on the car. If this solves the problem, than go get a new relay.
