3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
So. I pulled into my driveway in my gen3 camry and what do I see?
JEALOUS.
My dad is going on a business trip, and i recommended to him the "mazda 6 or equivalent" size car. Who would have known Hertz rents out Camry SE's? I'm definitely not 25, but that didn't stop me from taking it around the block... mannnn does it handle better than my gen3 even with the trd sway bar and strut bar. First time i've ever gotten behind the wheel of a gen6. I mean, it did have the four cylinder, but mannnn. jealous.
BAM. hahahah
I think the '09 SE 4cyl tops my '96 LE 4cyl...
I have to say this cars only problems were that it didn't have the V6, didn't have a moonroof, a small chip in the windshield, the 27,000 some miles, and the smell of cigarette smoke. I'd still take it though. My gen 3 just has to hold up four more years. college...

it is a sexy camry...the best lookin one since the gen3. but ONLY the SE in my opinion, without taht kit it looks off to me.
that is EXACTLY how i feel. gimme a gen 3 or 6. i have a friend with a gen 5 XLE. ew. and another with a gen 4 LE. ew again. and the grill on the gen 6 non-SE's look....odd. and the ground effects look nice too.

If i was on a business trip i would get a lexus or a mercades benz. Maybe a bmw, audi or range rover just because those are prestigious cars. I would want to show up in a car that would make people believe i am successful and give me credibility.

Wow, that SE looks sharp in black! Locally Hertz buys "LE" grade Corollas and Camrys. I know in CA they have CE/LE/S Corollas and LE/SE Camrys in their fleet. Both my Camry and my mom's Camry are ex-Hertz. Who would have known Hertz also bought V6 Camrys (at least back in the day) either!

wow. usually people are reallllllyyyy against buying ex-rental cars since people tend to dog them around (like i did with that SE a few hours ago... )

I think I'm one of the few that prefers the body styling of the gen4, 5, and 3 (probably in that order). I never really did like the gen6's or any of the newer cars that just came out.
I did drive the gen6 in the V6 and I was impressed with the power. I just couldn't get over the looks (too round, and I dislike the way that the front/rear look.)

Nah, I bought my Cam directly from Hertz and it was literally in showroom condition. They keep the best of their outgoing fleet to sell themselves and auction the less than perfect ones - which I see at the used car dealerships based on their license plate number [stays with the car in Hawaii] since Hertz registers their cars in batches, they're almost consecutive.
Have you guys seen the gen 6.5? I like it more than the gen 6 for sure. The gen 3.5 and 5.5 are still my favorites though .

my favorite body styles are actually the Gen 3 and 5.
My fav styles are the 4.5 and 6. That being said, I drove my friend's '07 XLE V6 and thought it was a POS. Steering was incredibly numb and felt even worse than my '94, transmission shifted rough, handling was in the pits (obviously), engine (while decently quick) felt nowhere near as refined or smooth as many other 6-cylinders I've driven, and the interior looked like ass.
Flame suit on suckas.:creature:
