4th Generation 300zx engine swap

ok this is going to sound crazy but is it possible could you fit a 300zx engine into a camry the reason i ask this is because ive heard talk of maxima engines being the same as a camry and sometimes 300zx engines come from a maxima what ive read on other forums may be wrong about the whole maxima to 300zx but please some clear this up for me and if its possible to put a 300zx engine in a camry would it be worth it all replies welcome open to constructive critisim

Whoever told you that maxima engines are the same as Camry engines was on crack!

Both ARE 3.0L engines with overhead cams.

End of similarities.

Zero compatibility.

The max and 300Z engines ARE related though. If you want a 300Z ( I assume ) TT engine in a FWD, buy a maxima and go nuts. Don't expect it to be plug and play though, and I doubt the transaxle will last longer than it takes you to put it in gear.Still want a TT fwd? Check out the Nissan forums. Maybe someone there has done it.

Please, please don't rape your poor Camry! It can't defend itself!

Yes you are correct, the 300zx engine is a DIRECT fit in all camrys, the swap should take you no longe than an hour to do.

100% correct? If so that puts 5SlowFE in the dog house.

I would never imagine a 300zx a direct fit in camrys.

I actaully like the idea. I like nissan motors and a 3.5L altima motor in a camry sounds fun........if it was BOOSTED! but a real dream I've had is an v8 out of a tundra with forged internals and 15lbs. of boost.........OH yEAH!!!!!

btw this tread was begging to be hated on by everyone.......camry? with nissan motor?.........FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

wanna swap? put the 2AZ(tC engine) in there. several people are tracking down the parts and such to see how hard it would be and how much.

Gabe is right, it bolts right up... Lots of us have done it, grab a motor and enjoy your z powered camry!

But seriously, I am going to save you the flaming. As a rule of thumb, pretty much no engine from one brand drops into a totally different brand car directly. If you ever see the person that told you all of this, hit him in the head with a tack hammer and tell him it was from me
