wow.. i don't know the size of the plug right off hand, but how many miles do you think you drove with no oil? you might have done some major damage with no lubrication.

and with the clutch thing.. if you push the pedal down real slowly, how far do you have to push it before the engine dies? does it die cleanly (as if you turned the key off) or does it fight to stay on and/or stumble, then die?

According to autozone's website, it's M12x1.25 and you'd probably want a copper washer to go with it just like stock. How did it fall out? Just changed the oil, and left it too loose?

anyhow, once you get your new oil plug and put some oil in (assuming the motor still runs fine after that event) then see at what point pushing the clutch causes the engine to stall. There's 2 switches on the clutch pedal assembly - one to cancel cruise control (if so equipped) and one to enable the starter. Though if you are actually in somalia, the start safety switch might not exist.. on my nissan the US version is the only one with the start safety switch and all other countries' models (UK, Canada, Australia, Japan) just simply don't have it. Anyhow, if it stalls as you just barely push the pedal (cruise control switch), or stalls as soon as the pedal bottoms out (start safety switch), then there's a chance that you have some bad wiring/grounds that are related to one of those 2 circuits.

thanks a lot mate, i did the last oil change 4 or 5 months ago. yea the car doesn't have a cruise control, its probably the starter switch that i need to look into. funny you mention somalia, im somali and yea that safety definitely doesn't exist there instead they got anti-aircraft gun mounted on they're cars. again thanks alot for your help and super fast reply

anyways, an easy way to verify that that is the problem (again, after fixing the oil issue), start the car, leave it in neutral, then crawl down and push the start safety switch with your thumb. does the engine stall? if not, unplug the electrical plug from the switch, and push the clutch down with your foot. does the engine stall then?

Gotcha.. I recognized the flag as being Aussie.. makes sense since you said "mate" haha.

but i guess you have plenty of auto parts stores to get that plug from? If you go up to the counter they probably will be able to pull a part # for an actual oil plug (tho, likely more expensive than just buying a random short bolt with a washer). The autozone website listed the plug at something like $20USD but if you just use a short bolt that has a flat circular surface at the bottom of the bolt head like this one [link] and one of those copper washers to go with it, that would probably work too.

there are about 5 auto part near my joint but their workers are hopeless and all they do is point where to look for the part and pointless unless you know what you wat. you reckon a spring washer would be better and have less chance of falling off again. a month ago the nut on my alternator pulley fell off and the drive belt dislodge itself though it was a different car but come on!! damn, where u a former aussie or do just watch a lot of movies?

well then maybe go to your local dealer to get a new drain plug. there's one dealer for nissans that sells stuff online to anywhere in the US, so i can assume that my dealer charges about 20% more than they do. That site quotes the oil plug + washer at ~$5USD... therefore i can only assume that in AUS money and at a local-dealer markup, that your Toyota place would charge much more than $10 for that. I bet they have like 20 of them just sitting in a little tray on the shelves of their parts department. My dealer had a bunch of power steering hose connector washers lying around, cuz it's a common part, and fits a bunch of models... i doubt they 'redesign' the oil plug every time they redesign the body style of the car.. your oil plug proably fits 30 different chassis codes of Toyotas, if not more.

As for the Aussie question? Nah, i was born and raised in Raleigh NC (southeastern US). If you even want to call me fully raised yet haha, i'm 20. I just try to separate myself from the stereotype that americans are 'culturally ignorant', so i know random bits of info about alot of different countries and cultures.. i can do a pretty good British accent.. mebbe not good enough to fool a real English person tho . I would LOVE to visit (or even live in) Australia someday tho. Mebbe buy a Holden Monaro or something cool like that.
