Hey well ive gone through a few subs in the past 6months but i think i found a sub i wanna stick with...atleast for now lol but i need some advice!! I just purchased a JL 12w7 and i had a box built to spec but its not carpeted yet, anyone from toronto know where i can get it carpeted? also im not sure if i need a capacitor at this point and if so, what would be the best farad rating to use, or even if it makes more sense to just put a battery in the trunk...its currently running from my Phoenix Gold Ryval 8001 monoblock amp which should push somewhere around 700WRMS to the sub so i know its drawing alot of power, any suggestions? also anyone know where i can get some 7" headrest monitors that wont fall apart when installing like what happened to one of my friends lol Thanks!
Buy some carpet and some 3m spray adhesive and carpet it yourself, it wouldn't be hard. I would suggest not getting a capacitor. Have you done the big 3 yet? If not do that before anything else.
If you go on car audio forums such as the 12volt the genera consensus from the pros is almost always that caps are a waste of money. I've also seen an physicist write an explanation of why they can not work. Some people say they help, but the only time I believe they help is not a problem in toyota's, so skip the cap.
As far as the big 3, its running the same 0/1 awg wire that you sent to the trunk for the 3 major wires under the hood. The Alternator to battery positive, the battery negative to chassis, and the alternator negative to chassis. Running 0/1 awg to the trunk is useless if the wire from the alternator to battery is like 8 or 10 gauge. Here is a link to a thread where I have pictures of my big three, just scroll down a bit. The big three is a must before any other upgrades to your electrical system. If you need any other help with it I have more pics I can post.
P.S. Don't forget the fuses, they are really important.

I'm pretty sure there is a tutorial on carpeting a box on the Elementaldesigns.com website.
I'd do an alternator upgrade if you are having headlight dimming issues.
Thanks for the input ill try and do the big 3 as soon as i can and hopefully that will help because EVERY light in my car including my HID's dim, even my dome light almost goes completely out xD and as for fuses, i have all stinger 60amp i believe, 1 near the battery for the 0/1 gauge wiring and then 2 in the trunk where i split the power wire to my 2 amps (1 4channel for my interior mids/highs) and i used all stinger accessories
As far as the fuses that's perfect for now. When you do the big 3 however, add another fuse between the alternator positive and battery positive. Both that fuse and the stinger you already have should be as close to the battery as possible, I'd say more than a foot away is too far.
It seems like so far you've used high quality parts and taken the time to do it right, so I think you'll really notice an improvement from the big 3. It may not be enough however, and if you really want all that power you might need a high output alternator.
An example: my camry has a 70 amp alternator, and that's at 14 volts 70x14=980 total watts. This is split between all other electrical components in your car, and whats left is further reduced by the amplifier efficiency of around 80% for the mono if its class d, leaving less than 700 watts available. You also need some power for your 4 channel that's more like 60% efficient.
Do the big 3 first, and then if your not satisfied you shoudl probably not waste money on a capacitor or battery, and just buy a h.o. alternator.
