3rd Generation Project: Appearance Improvement (lots of pic whoring)

Alright. I'm finally tired of all the little things that go wrong with an 11 year old car. Just the little stuff. So my project over the next few days and through the weekend will be to improve how my car looks inside and out....I hope. So first, a little tour around my gen 3.5. I'll put comments and questions under each photo.

^that is coming off on friday, hopefully.

^ these scratches DO NOT want to come out. Yes i've tryed everything. Rubbing compound, clay baring the car....it's still there....any ideas?

^ been there since i got the car. this won't come out either, and it's starting to rust on the wheel well. help?

^The lovely white trim that goes around the sides of the car. Thinking about replacing it. Something gold maybe?

^ dirty dirty DIRTY. cleaning it this weekend.

^ check out the molding around the window... anyway to fix that?

^ the little support thingies cracked. oh well. hopefully i'll eventually replace the front with a RMM lip.

^ uhm. it fell off. whats the best way to get it back on? ahahah

^okay, the only damage I did to my camry...backed into a pole in a parking deck at about 1/2mph. left a yallow paint transfer that wont come out (Help?) anddddd.....

^ ...the fender popped out when i backed into it. see below the tail light? help?

^ TRD. should it stay or should it go? hahaha

^ oh look. a hole in the driver's side floor. any way to fix it?

^ there was a spring in that hole.

^ another hole. fixable?

^ ScanGuage II plugged into the OBDII port...coin thing wont fit back on. anyway to conceal it? modify the coin thingy maybe?

^ tear in the back seat....what?! it was there when i got the car! fixable?

^ see that hole on the rear deck? what the heck is it?

^ hmmm. should i paint them gold to matchhhhh....

^ to match the rest of the emblems. yes, hand painted by yours truely.

^ i did such a great job. heh. thats getting fixed.

^ more TRD. these are on both mirrors. should they stay or should they go?

^ toyota banner. stay? go?

I think thats it for my questions. now on to happier things...at least before they get cleaned up this weekend.

^ i didnt have any of the original keys when i got the car...so i got this cut.

^hmmm. red. wonder why?

^ and thus starts the onslaught of technology and radio equipment. GPS sensor.

^ Uniden BCD-996T police scanner, Uniden PC78XL CB radio, and a cheap JVC stereo head.

^ low-profile antenex phantom antenna for the scanner....the kind you find on cop cars.

^ huge radio shack mag-mount antenna for the CB.

^ rear

andddd i guess thats it. so plans for the weekend:
- new muffler
- fix the annoying straches and paint transfers
- wash, clay bar, and wax.
- clean the interior
- fix the holes in the floor carpet and rear seat.
- paint the hubcaps gold maybe?
- replace the white trim with gold trim?
- re-attach the molding piece that fell off.
- repair emblem paint damage.
- get annoyed, give up, and wait for the gen 6.5 to come out.

and uhm...

^ i have werid stuff in my trunk....

Nice scanner. Been wanting one of those.

Would suggest centering the antennas more on the trunk if you can [in the middle one behind the other] as it would look more uniformed. Also leave the toyota and trd vinyl lettering on the front /back is you wish, but would say to take them off the mirrors. Will give a cleaner appearance. Just my thoughts. Good luck in getting everything done!

I'm gonna say get rid of all the TRD stickers... That's a little too much for just the RSB.

hey man,

so, nice start on tryin to get those things taken care of, it will make the cam look a lot nicer, little things like that piss the hell out of me when it is on my car lol so i feel ya.

TRD backsticker should stay and maybe the front toyota as well, ones on the mirriors should for sure go, it just looks to cramed you know.

painting the hubs gold sounds likea good idea, but i feel it will be a bit much, may want to think about it first, maybe a photoshop request...

i also agree that the anntenas should be centered and put behind one another, it will look a lot more organized i guess lol.

for the trim piece, i would say the red 3M double sided mounting tape, just make sure you clean the area and piece real good!

for the little scratches and all...i dont really know, just try and buff them out i guess.

last but not least deep creep engine bay cleaner! possibly a seafoaming of the engine while u are at it.

goodluck!

oh man. ahhahahaha. here we go. i'm on Sprint PCS which does great in the city i'm in....basically 3-5 bars everywhere.

the scanner moniters police radio traffic... kinda nice when your in a hurry and you know where all the accidents are that local police and fire are working. (it's not a radar detector...they're illegal in VA ) this model is GPS enabled, meaning it can switch on and offf certain police/fire channels depending on where i drive. lotssssssss of programming...

cb radio.... watch smokey and the bandit, man. it's also hooked up to a PA system...great for yelling at people.

-sell the scanner - get some tint...it will hide all interior flaws
-ditch ALL of the stickers. cept the TN sticker
-just glue that fender trim piece back on...a good sylicone adhesive will do fine
-if the pinstripe is just a sticker then remove it and replace with nothing
- bumper braces cant be helped

lets say a pig pulls one over for running a stop sign. would said pig be displeased in the discovery of one of these scanners inside the vehicle?

if they're legal in your state. i got pulled over once. of course when he went back to his car and i caught him on an icall (private radio to radio) with his supervisor asking if it was legal. i didnt think he knew mine as the ability to crack private calls.

-that's a good muffler lol

-since the rust is minor, you can sand it down to the metal, clean it up with alcohol, cover the bare metal with primer, then paint it with touch up paint

-it looks like the window molding got pinched and deformed, you can try rolling down the window, rolling it back up while forcing the molding back to the correct position, and hope that over time it goes back to it's original shape

-the yellow paint transfer and other paint transfers will come off if you scrub them hard enough

Thats one sneaky cam....haha
Love the scanners...
I feel the only thing that needs to go
are the bumper stickers at the rear driver side and the ones on the side mirrors..
