Camry Coupe TOTALLED! Pics

After 4 years, 60,000 miles and driving it through 36 states, my 1995 Camry Coupe is no more. An update, Last month I sold the Camry to my mother and I bought a Supercharged 2000 Regal GS, which I'm having a good time with BTW.

On Feb 24, my mother and step dad were rounding a curve on the interstate when she hit some black ice. She lost control, the car spun a 180, went backwards off the road and then rolled on top deep snow which that cushioned the roll. It rolled completely over one time and landed back on its wheels.

Thankfully and unbelievably, both were able to walk away from the wreck with only minor cuts and bruises. In fact, my step dad went to work at 8am the next morning. I believe the combo of seatbelts, rolling on soft snow and the toughness of the Camry saved them.

So if you ever wondered how your 3rd Gen would hold up in a rollover, here is your answer:

How it looked when I bought it in 2005 --

Wow, talk about a scary experience. Glad your parents are okay. I spun out on an interstate off-ramp before too, lucky my camry didn't flip.

That coupe actually looks like it held up really well in a rollover. Fix the front suspension and the bent seat, and it would probably still drive.

Yeah that's blood. It's all over the inside, both of them had several cuts. They waited over 30 minutes for the ambulance, they were 50 miles from the nearest town in the middle of nowhere. Temps were around 5 degrees. Some passerbys checked on them but didn't remove them from the car incase there were neck injuries. For some reason the engine stopped running and they couldn't start it again to run the heater. My mom's seat was buried in snow so she climbed into the back seat and covered up with a blanket provided by a passerby. Her hand was cut up and bled on the rear seat as shown in the pic.

I'm so thankful that they are ok, I can't believe how lucky they were. The car did an excellent job in protecting them. We've all seen or heard of accidents with less damage that didn't end so well. Really impressed with how well the car held up.

wow

Certainly glad to hear that everyone walked away from that one. That supercharged regal will be good fun. Series II 3.8 with the factory SC makes 240 HP. A little more than the Camry . I really like those engines. Might have to deal with replacing the plastic intake plenum at some point. They like to develop a coolant leak just behind the throttle body over time. Also at the little plastic elbow just below the SC on the passenger side. Gm fixed the issue with an aluminum intake on the following generation. This is same engine I have in my '06 GTP. Still yours is going to be faster and a lot lighter than mine.
