Air intake temp sensor

Hello
I have a 99 Camry V6. Lately the cold idle is very high. Once it warms up it goes down to normal. I thought it was the Air intake Temp senor, but I can not find where it is located. I would have thought in the air intake box or rubber intake to the intake manifold. The part looks like a black plastic probe with a 2 pin connection. Can anyone help with this?
Thanks
Keith

the IAT sensor doesnt really control your idle ... so if theres a cold start idle issue, its gonna be a different sensor altogether

but first, how high is it idling exactly? and what was the outside temperature? because it could be normal ...

Its probably because its been colder outside in the morning. So long as its not climbing above 2000 rpm, it's normal. So long as your idle returns to normal after it warms up and you don't have a CEL, I wouldn't go looking for a problem.

Idle

The car is parked in the garage at around 58deg. It goes t0 1900 and drops to 600 when warm. It just seems high compared to what it used to do. My new Camry is 1500 and drops to 600 when warm. If this is Ok' ill leave it alone. What does trigger cold high idle rpm?
Thanks
Keith

The engine coolant temp sensor and IAC are responsible for how your car idles cold. The ECT sensor tells the ECU to send more fuel (when cold) and the IAC regulates the amount of air going into the throttle body.
