3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
So, normal day coming home. Full tank of gas, normal temps, start turning into my driveway and boom, steering goes hard. I look at my dash, still rolling, and my oil light, and the light that indicates I have lights out is on. At this time I realize the engine is off.
Well, one reason I'm pissed is because I can't push the car into the driveway until my dad comes home, so it's stuck in the middle of the road till then, with the battery ticking down with the blinkers on.
I tried restarting it in park, and neutral. It's turning over but not catching. I think there was a short or a blown fuse. Any ideas? I have never been jumped, or given a jump start, so there really isn't anything to blow, all conditions were normal today.
No, the check engine light is not on.
2.2L 4 cyl, 1993.

Alright, I was checking fuses and it looks like the AM2 (30A.) fuse is blown. If I can recall, this powers a lot. My dad is out buying some replacement fuses, but if the one we get blows, that means there's prolly a nasty short. From what I understand, the AM2 fuse powers the igniter, ignition coil, injectors, the IGN fuse, which powers the efi main relay, the ecu, and the airbag center sensor assembly. What should I do? O_o
I'm by no means mechanically inclined to fix a short.

That's what my mechanic told me to do, but I couldn't see anything from my vantage point. We're going to tow it to his place today and let him take care of it.

If you don't want to tackle it yourself, taking it to your mechanic is your only choice. Otherwise, you will have to isolate the circuits to determine what is causing the problem.
