MAF pin or swap help

I am in the process of changing my air intake tube and want to go from the '95 Avalon MAF sensor, which is a MAF sensor housed in a restrictive section of tubing that plugs into the airbox and has the rubber air tube plugged into the other end. The MAF sensor itself cannot be removed. I want to use a larger intake tube, like the Injen tube, but need to use a MAF sensor that can be bolted to the tube. I have a MAF sensor from an '02 Camry, which does unbolt from the intake. Both of the MAF sensors use the same connector but the pins are in a different order and 4 of the pins have the same destination. The 5th pin goes to a different pin and I am wondering if anyone knows if they have the same function and can interchanged. On the ’95 MAF, pin 5 goes to the VG pin on the ECU and on the ’02 MAF, pin 2 goes to the E2G pin on the ECU.

Doing a Google search, I was able to find the following information:

’95 MAF
1 = +B = 12 volt
2 = VG = MAF signal
3 = THA = IAT
4 = E2 = IAT ground
5 = VG- = ?????

’02 MAF
1 = +B = 12 volt
2 = E2G = MAF ground
3 = VG = MAF signal
4 = THA = IAT
5 = E2 = IAT ground

Looking at the Toyota PDF’s, in a drawing, it looks like the VG- is a ground in the ECU and looks similar to a drawing of the ’02 ECU.

I could always just repin my connector and try it.

Thanks, Jim
