2k camry 2.2 engine swap? halp!

ok so ive searched through the forums and couldn't quite find anything so here I am =\

My engine died today (knock, rumble, lost power, death - sad face)

2000 camry 4cyl 2.2

So I was wondering what other engines besides the 5sfe would I be able to straight swap in without having to change trans, etc.

I don't know too much about engines so plz don't smash me for lack of knowledge <3

You might be better off finding another 5S-FE. There are issues of the computer, wiring, passing emissions tests, etc.

the 1mz drops in, but your going to have to change the tranny unless you have a manual but then you have to modify to make it work...get another 5s unless you have the money time and experience to swap another engine in...most likely a 1mz...btw what did you do it your 5s?

nothing but a 5sfe or a (IIRC) 3sfe(2.0) will fit with your trans. if it does, theres not much info on the 3sfe swap since not many have ever done it. only reason id consider it is if i could find a BEAMS 3sfe(performance/race motor).

there was a guy on here who's mechanic did a 3s instead ov a 5s in his gen4 - and he was plenty pissed!! LOL.

I bought a JDM engine and trans for about $1400.00 less than 60,000 miles you take your egr valve
off and speed sensor.( just google JDM)

Yeah i've been looking around at those shops that carry a mess of jdm engines. Hope they dont give me a 3s O_O
