power steering squealing

Okay we just bought this car and so far love it a lot. Even with the issues we've had to fix on it. Started out by having to change the fuel filter, thermostat, and water pump. Then the timing was off so the car would not run. Fixed that and now the car runs and everything but some where along the line of changing the water pump the tension got released on the power steering belt. Having a heck of a time figuring out how to re tighten the belt. PLEASE help me Need to have the car running by tomorrow morning to get to work. HELP with any ideas that will work.

The PS pump is held on by 2 bolts. You need to loosen the bolts bolts closest to the engine, rotate the pump housing and move it and the pulley to take out the belt slack.

I just got done replacing my power steering pump, and it is a pain in the ass! However, just tightening the belt isn't too hard.

1. Looser lug nuts of front right wheel, raise car on jack stands, and remove front right wheel.

2. Remove two bolts that are holding on the fend shroud. Once this is removed, you will be able to see the main drive belt and the power steering belt.

3. Loosen the bolt (14mm I believe) that is in the adjustable bracket.

4. You may be able to move the pump and tighten the belt by just loosening this screw, however you may need to loosen the other adjusting bolt.

5. After you have adjusted the position of the pump and tightened the belt, retighten all bolts!
