Attemp to replace door handle

I removed the door panel, and was trying to remove the handle. People where saying to remove the 2 nuts (the two highest on the handle) So I looked at it carefully and saw that there are two rods that connect to the handle, one to open the door by lifting the handle and the other one for the lock. Which way order should be done to remove the handle, remove the two nuts first, detach the rod that opens the door and pull it closer the opening to detach the rod to the lock unit? I was trying to remove the lock but not enough room, so I guess the handle has to be moved to reach the lock rod? And also no nuts came with my handles and the one that is the original ones do not have the same thread as the new handle. (The original handle nut has wide thread for plastic material and the replacement handle looks like it only uses metal screws for metal material). Can any one can tell me how to remove in steps, and when you bought your handles did screws can with it?

So do I unscrew the two bolts and pull the handle upwards from the outside? While it is pulled out of the door, I unhook the rods from the outside? Or do I unhook them inside the door?

yeah you got it right the first time, unbolt it, pull it out a bit so you have wiggle room to get those damn clips off the rods without breaking them! its fairly straight forward remove/replace. the hard part is getting your hands in there!

I broke the clip that controls the lock, but I find out a way that does not need a clip! I took the Driver Side off and man what a pain in the @$$ to remove! I was going to take pictures but the camera deleted them all by mistake. So I am going to make a DIY for the passenger side with lots of pictures because there are some very helpful tips I found and makes it easier for other people who will encounter this in the future.

Not easy, I done it. First loosen the 10mm and push the handle out, then disconnect the linkage

Yea, I had to melt the original rod clip to disconnect it. I took a lighter to melt it and almost catch on fire but got it out!
