So now what?

Alright. Well, I love my car, but our relationship has been..expensive. Bought the car for $1900, so far we've put $1500 in repairs/maintenance.
Anyways, there are a good few newer Camry's around my area with decent miles, and look pretty decent. Me and my dad are at a conundrum: Keep the car because we've put this much time and work into it already, or sell it, and buy one of the newer cars.
My car is running good and looks good, but after my distributor shorted, my Airbag light has come on, my mechanic said it's a easy fix. But it still stands that my car has worked for me, I know what I have, and I've gone this far with it.
Buying another used car could be good or bad. The car can be a dream come true, or another expensive investment. I have a friend that is willing to buy my car for my asking price, in cash, so If I do decide to buy another, I've got one base covered.
What do you think? Me and my dad have drawn blanks. On one side we know my car well, and on the other, it's turned out to be a money pit that keeps growing into a sinkhole.
