4th Generation Transmission or Computer?

94 camry, 5sfe, auto tranny.

only shifting up into third gear (from 2nd) it gets hung up and then jolts pretty roughly when it catches.

It will normaly shift at about 3-4000 rpms, but it sticks in 2nd till about 6000, then sits there for a second. Next it shifts, but its about the same as sticking your hand into a moving fan. it doesn't catch as quickly as the rest (i don't think...it's milliseconds, so who knows) and when it does it feels like theenigine and tranny are revolving at way different rpms, cuz it jerks hard.

At first i thought it was an engine problem or something with the connection between the two. But it's only third gear. So i thought it was something with third gear, but it only does it 2nd to 3rd, not 4th to third, and if i baby it (hold around 2-3000 rpms) it'll shift okay. That's why i'm thinking computer.

right now i'm either babying it, or dropping it into neutral when i hit 5000 rpms, and letting the rpms drop and then put it back into drive. It doesn't seem to fight with that as much. Any ideas?

EDIT":

Yeah...i know...its a gen 3. i must arrowed over after i clicked the icon...my bad
