93 Camry will not start/run right

93 Camry 4 cyl, started running real bad as gas was low. Added gas and after 5 miles just quit running and would not start. Towed to mechanic and he said Map sensor, Throttle Position sensor, Idle air control valve was all bad causing car not to start/run right. He said the injectors pumped too much gas into motor causing it not to crank.

Paid him $65 for his diagnostic test, and he said $600 to change out these parts. I do not have that kind of money and must wait. I started the car to drive home and it killed again. Decided to try luck at local salvage yard and changed all parts he said was bad..Car will still not start but luckly it did for a short while and run real bad as it was choking down and starving for fuel.
Changed out oxygen sensor for the hell of it....

Is their home way I can check the fuel pump? Or could that be an issue?

Just a wild hunch here. Check the coil inside the distributor. Don't know how many miles are on the car, but they go out frequently as these cars rack up a lot of mileage. To test the coil you will need a digital volt/ohmeter and the specs from any manual. You can download the Generation 3 Toyota factory service manual stickied at the top of the Camry forum, over at AutomotiveForums.com. While you have the coil out inspect it carefully for hairline cracks.

Returned to shop

As stated before changed several items including Map sensor, Throttle positions sensor, and Idle air control valve. All from salvage yard could not afford new, car still would not start. Took to another shop and he said he set timing etc and car did start and run for 10 miles and quit. Sounding much like running out of gas by choking down but has 1/2 tank that is not the problem.

Not sure what to do next, towed back to mechanic and he said maybe could be a bad distributor.

Would a bad coil not make it start or quit running after awhile?
Someone said try the ECM as a last resort. I am unemployed and cannot afford to keep paying mechanic shops to parts change until they find the right problem
Some how the shops are able to get it started and it runs fine for 20-30 minutes that kills and will not restart. Any suggestions on what to look for and help with getting it start is appreciated. Also when I was driving it the check engine light did not come on

...Thanks

my 93 camry did a same thing when the engine coolant temp sensor (ECT) went bad, it happens after the engine warm up, and the engine would stall at stop sign or traffic light, sometime would restart, sometime would have to wait until the engine cool down, this is caused by the ECT malfunction, telling the ECU the engine is still cold, thus pumping more gas into the engine so it would warm up quicker even thought it is not, flood and stall the engine with gas
