Gen 3 AT Shifter DIY?

Hey all,

The link to imagestation on the DIY thread doesn't work anymore, and I'm having trouble finding a DIY for how to remove the plates and covers for the shifter. Tried search and everything returned was for the Gen 4

I managed to pop off the little collar between the plate with all the gears on it and the trim piece, and pried part of the trim piece off, but couldn't continue, didn't want to force it and break something.

Mostly wanted to take it off to clean areas that haven't been cleaned in 13 years... thanks!

I believe we should call on the super powers of ASG14. He just needs to look at it and comes apart (too bad he can't do that with women and their clothes).

Seriously, ASG14 would know.

You mean the storage box? No, I wouldn't think that it would matter. I'm talking about the shifter and the plate below it. Maybe the handbrake as well. Those two parts are particularly nasty.

Wouldn't we all love to have that power?

Thanks, I'll send him a PM, I know he is in high demand here though.

Pry this part with a flat tip screwdriver

now you can remove the YELLOW highlighted part by prying at the GREEN highlighted areas (same on opposite side). also you can remove the screws in the RED highlighted areas to take out the REAR console part(there is 2 more bolts within the console compartment [10 mm])

the 2 bolts within the console compartment 10mm

there is a plastic cover hiding a 10mm bolt in YELLOW area (theres also another plastic cover on the opposite side. theres 2 plastic screws / clips in RED area.. you remove these

heres a better picture of the panel, there is 4 total 10mm bolts (RED areas) once you remove the panel, theres a screw you can see on the upper LEFT corner of the front console. remove that

theres a small panel here (RED line) you just pry down now you have access to the final screw on the upper RIGHT side of the front console

after you remove all the screws you can take out the whole center console and clean whatever you want

ok, I took the collar between the black plate and the wood (mine is plastic) off, then pried at the red bits and they came up, the thing is the plate (wood in your case) would only budge on the lower and right sides, but wouldnt move on the top and the left much. I tried using a bit of force but saw the thing bend, and didn't want to risk snapping the plastic piece.

I pried in the red rectangles before but the top part wouldn't budge still.
