Question Missing transmission pan magnets

Does anyone have an official Toyota manual with a picture of where the 2 magnets go?

(No offense, but I would rather not guess, if I don't have to.)

My Camry's (1997 LE 4 cylinder automatic) magnets were missing 1.5 years after AAMCO rebuilt the transmission (no transmission fluid changes since then). When I called the Toyota dealer to get replacement magnets (parts store didn't carry them), the parts department said while some Camrys may have 3 magnets, his records only showed 2 for mine at about $7.50 each. He was adamant about it. So, I ordered 2.

Unfortunately, the parts department also said they had no diagram showing where to place the 2 magnets and there are no marks on the pan either. My Haynes manual shows 3 magnets.

When holding the drain hole closest to you and pan right side up:

Use the bolts on the flange as referance.

Left mag is about 1 bolt hole down and 1 /3/4 to the right.

Right mag is 1 1/2 down and in line with the hole in the corner of the pan.

The manual states there are indentations but have never seen them.

Toyota shop manual picture of magnets

When I picked up the magnets at the parts Dept of the Toyota dealer let me look through their shop manuals where I found a picture that agrees with both of the above replies.

Thanks.
