Question exaust question

Hi,

i have a simple question about exaust system scealer. Can I put it in the joint between the manifold and the downpipe or this will solder the joint permanently and be a b**ch to remove later. I want to use it because the bolts became loose two time this last month even if I use locktite and torque them very hard.

Here's a link of the product:

Thank you!

hmm

I doubt this sealer will solve your problem. Are you missing a hanger near the joint? I have never had any problems with nuts and bolts working themselves loose on exhaust flanges. Usually have the exact opposite problem of snapping off the bolts.

I know that the first rod braket after the downpipe broke a couple years ago. Maybe without this braket, the exessive vibrations of the pipes looses the bolts?

I've used that sealer, and can guarantee it won't 'stick' anything together. It just fills voids so the exhaust gasses won't escape. It does adhere to the parts you smear it on, but you can easily disassemble and wire brush/scrape it off and use them again. However, all this stuff is is a gasket enhancer or substitute. I've used it more to patch a leaky muffler in a pinch, to get MVI done. I can't see where it would have anything to do with your bolts loosening up problem though. Put lockwashers in and torque them down hard. Unless you do your own work, a muffler shop will just torch them off anyway and replace them with new ones (and charge like h*ll for them too).

Ok, thanks for the advices Don and Frenum. I will install a new bracket and try the lockwashers.
