It doesn't really do anything. Kind of like the plastic cover on top of the V6. It's there to make the engine compartment look better, and hide the gap between the grille and radiator.

Some might say it's to improve cooling. However, I have one, but I've never seen any improvement in cooling. I still love it though! LOL
