94 v6 timing belt question
i did a 94 v6 camry timing belt today,
before i removed the old belt, i use white out to mark the cam pulleys, and crank pulley,
i bought the new timing belt from toyota dealer, the new belt has 2 solid green line, and one dotted green line,
i was able to align the 2 solid green lines to both cam pulley notch, and when i try to align the dotted green line to the notch at crank pulley, and release the tensioner, it is about 1 tooth off from where i marked pulleys before i remove the old belt, i was able to start the engine.
then i remove the timing belt again, and ignore about the notch and solid/dotted green lines on belt, just align the same old mark as my old belt, and the engine starts. since the old belt has been running fine, i feel more comfortable with the old belt setting.
the question is, is there a difference when the timing belt is one tooth off? or the ECU auto compensate the difference?
