3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
My '93 I4 Camry's transmission is out, and I plan on buying a '97 V6. I was thinking about saving my gen3 for replacement parts, especially the wheels/tires.
Is there a comprehensive list of which parts are the same?
Thanks!
Yeah I have tried to sell it, but people only want to pay a few hundred for it. I was thinking about parting it out on TN, and hopefully keeping the wheels so I can use them in the '97.
By finding out how many parts will fit the newer camry, I can better decide what to do with the '93
going from a 4 to a 6, the wheels, stereo, and maybe battery if you have an optima. that's about it. everything else is already bigger and better on the v6 than on your i4 so there's no point in keeping it. even if you had HIDs you couldn't move them over without a lot of work (and you'd lose high beams too) because the 97 uses a one bulb for hi/lo unlike gen3 (and gen4.5)'s separate hi and low bulbs.
any wheel smaller than 15" will NOT fit over the v6's front brakes. anything larger is direct fit and will fit exactly like it did on youe gen3.

Gne 3 I4 ONLY came with 14" rims. They WILL NOT fit a V6.
i knew that, but also know that LOADS of ppl on here get bigger wheels, which is why i specified anything smaller than 15" (meaning 14) wouldn't fit over the brakes.
