Help plz.. 2000 camry not starting.

hey wassup everyone.

i just want to ask around if anyone has a problem with a 2000 camry 4cyclinder w/ starting problems. oh yah and it has 97,000 miles.

the car doesn't turn over..
the starter spins, i pulled out the spark plug wires and grounded it to see if there is spark and there is spark.

so the only thing left is fuel..
wat are the common problems with fuel?
any ideas?

hmm

Ok so the car doesnt turn over??? Cant check for spark unless the starter is turning the engine. If the starter spinsbut the engine doesnt turn over that is a bendix problem in the starter. Getting some conflicting info here.....

These 2 things generally mean the same thing; the action of the starter motor rotating the engine until the engine catches and runs on it's own. Since you said that you were able to check for spark, we'll assume the starter is turning over the engine. Was the spark a nice bright blue spark?

Aa far as fuel related issues, you have the fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel pump relay. You also have the wiring to the fuel system, but a problem with the wiring is pretty remote. Start by checking for power to the fuel pump when the starter is cranking (turning over) the engine.

Remove the back seat cushion. Just pull straight up on the front of the cushion and it should pop out. Then remove the cover plate with 4 sheet metal screws. You will see the electrical connector for the fuel pump. Have someone crank the engine while you back probe the connector with a 12 volt test light or a digital volt/ohmeter. You should have 12 volts on one side of that connector.

i need some clarity... the starter spins... does that mean the starter DOES engage the flywheel/flexplate and the motor is turning too? or are you saying it just spins without the motor turning?

do the 2000 camrys have a Fp test lead in the diag connector? i know in the gen 3, you bridge Fp with power, and the pump would start working... you can hear it in the back seat.. not sure what to do on a 2000 to get it powered manually... maybe pull the EFI fuse and try starting the ignition... that should get power to the starter no?
