Grinding noise during acceleration 1996 Camry 4cy LE

I can hear a harsh grinding sounds when I accelerate with somewhat for a heavy foot (Not flooring it or anything, just normal use). Not sure what is causing this. anyone every experience this problem before? I would have to accelerate really really slow ( like yr gran ma' would probably honk her horn at me slow..) to not hear the sound.

Thanks in advance

Does it make the same sound if you rev the engine in neutral or park?

mine makes a popping noise that could be mistaken for a grinding noise under heavy acceleration b/c my front engine mount is broken, so check that.

How can I check if it's actually the engine mounts before servicing it? Anyway to check without actually taking the mount off?

Just pull on them and maybe rock the motor a bit, and if they seperate, then they're broken.
