Differnce 1MZFE and 3VZFE engine

I own a camry V6 3.0 (station)wagon
The engine is a 1993 european 3.0 24V with 186Hp.
But is this the 1MZFE ord the 3VZFE engine?

I ask this because i need to replace the cv-joint. On driveshaft-axle.com i want ot order a cv-joint, but the partslist doesn't make a difference between the two engines.

Please help a dutch, proud, owner of a camry.

Jacco

well, i'm not sure if it's the same in Europe, but here in the us, the V6 92-93 camry used the 3vz-fe,and V6 94 and after were 1mz-Fe...

Yep it is the same in Europe. In fact there are just a few, minor differences between Camry's sold in Europe and in the US. The main only differences I have known of are different O2 sensor, different fuse/relay boxes locations. Otherwise it is nearly the same

wasnt the 3vz like 175-180 hp and the 1mz like 190-195?

dude, wherever you are getting the cv joint from should go by make and model... NOT by engine. you need it for the camry 3.0 v6, not for the 3vz-fe engine... see what im saying... if you cant get it like that, i would say find someone else who has a better system so you get the right part.

Simple..open your hood...look at the undeside of the hood (if not repainted...or repaired) and you should see some japanese writing with your engine code...work from there...

3VZ - 185
1MZ - 188 Gen 3.5, 194 Gen 4, 192 Gen 4.5 ULEV/Gen 5, 210 Avalon and Solara

CV joints are supposed to be based on engines, but only between 4 Cyl and V6. It shouldn't be different between the two V6 since they used the same transmission. (At least that's what Kragen's inventory PC showed me when I looked for CV Joints and Boots)

Thanks for the replies.

So what is the difference anyways? How is the 1mz better than the 3vz....or vice versa. Does the 1mz have vvt or something?

Only a few newer 1MZ's have VVT-i

The biggest diff, if I remember correctly, is that the 3VZ is iron and the 1MZ is aluminum.

No.

Occasionally Toyota heads are swapable within engine families, but not outside of families.

Get a 1MZ-FE if it means that much to you.

Are there some small upgrades?

Thanks for the reply about the engine.

Are there small upgrades to the engine?

The engine is a liitle bit slow until it reaches 4000rpm. At 4000 rpm there's much more power (seems to be).

It will be perfect if there's a change to the engine with more power (Nm) in the regio 2000-4000 rpm.
