steering "knuckle" replacement?

A few weeks ago I was having steering issues where it felt like power steering was intermittent, and not returning to center. I sourced it to the steering "knuckle" (if thats what it's called).

Greased it up and it was good as new, for a while. now it's back worse than before so I went to toyota and ordered a new "knuckle".

I'm looking at my service manual, and i'm curious, before I try to install it if I will have to remove the entire steering column from the steering wheel down, or if it's easier than that?

Thank you for the help, as usual!

You shouldn't have to remove the steering column
