4th Generation Slight problem with gen 4/4.5...

Ok so I tried to take a look at the rear strut mounts from the trunk yesterday and found out that I can't. Theres like a plastic plate that covers it and its held down with glue....

Has anyone else had this problem??

Any insight would be appreciated.

The mounts are under the rear deck inside the cabin.

Extreme right side, center. The 3 bolts with the black piece in the middle. Thats the strut mount.

You don't really have to remove all that to get to the upper strut mounts on the generation 4. Just pull the back seat bottom cushion out. Get in the car and grab hold of the bottom with both hands (one hand on each side) and pull up firmly. The seat cushion with pop out. Then on each side near each door you will see the side bolsters. Below each one is a 12MM hex head bolt. Remove that bolt and then lift each side bolster up. They will come right off, exposing the 3 bolts that hold the upper strut mount to the car. It is a bit cumbersome but they can be unbolted from there. That is the way the factory service manual recommends removing them.

well it really wouldn't make much sense to make once since we have a rear deck, cars where the strut towers are in the truck and aren't really connected is time where you'll need one there
