1998 camry towing

I am looking into putting a towing hitch on my 4 cyl. camry LE. I've read that max towing weight is 1000 lbs in some places and others say 2000 lbs. Does anyone know which is correct?

I am looking to pull this trailer http://kansascity.craigslist.org/for/1135984097.html

With a 940 lb mower on top.

does this seem feasible? Do i need to worry more about my transmission or braking?

Thanks for your help!

According to the '99 manual (which should apply to your rig, too), total weight of trailer + cargo can be 2000 lbs, as long as the total gross weight of the car + stuff in car (including the passengers) + trailer + cargo doesn't exceed the GVWR on the car's door sticker.

Hope you're not planning on doing this long-term -- the car itself only weighs about 3100 lbs -- towing nearly a ton on a regular basis is not going to be good for the brakes, tranny, or your sanity.

See http://www.camrystuff.com/manuals/Ge...ner_Manual.pdf page 173.
