92 SE Exhaust

Well, finnally I think my original exhaust has taken a turn for the worst. The flange where the muffler and the mid-pipe meet has rusted through and become disconnected. Also in addition to the leak in my rear manifold there is another leak up front somewhere. I havent had time to check it out since its like -2degrees out the past couple days.

So... The question is, buy a new factory stainless exhaust or an aftermarket performance exhaust. Does anyone make full exhaust for a 3VZ-fe? Does anyone on here that isnt using thier old V6 exhaust wanna sell it??

Any help would be appreciated as Always.

Up front? it has to be the Flex pipe - If u don't fix that u lose a lot of torque. Get a new oem exhaust without the tailpipe, after the resonator, custom design ur own set up at a muffler shop. Like mine. I'll post clearer pics of my exhaust set up later.

I don't know if I can help you but I'd say that there is one thing I noticed with these Camries. If there is only one thing that lasts for years and years on these cars, then that would be the exhaust pipe. Mine is more than 200,000 miles and 12 years old, never changed anything yet. It's even not that I am lucky as I don't seem to be the only one. I have never heard of any other brands having such long lasting exhausts. So I would say if you only want to keep the car for a few years then go for an aftermarket one, if you plan to keep it for as long as possible just buy a new oem one (or even a used oem). You can try to find one on ebay, there sometimes are a few for a good price.
In fact as 5spd V6 ClrTail is saying it might be just the flex pipe (it is actually the only thing I changed on mine). You can't find it as an oem part (you'll have to buy the whole first part of the exhaust) but it is possible to buy just the flex to some companies (I found one on ebay for 10 $). I hope I wasn't to long Good luck anyway !

hell yeah!! The exhaust system in a camry lasts for years. I am actually waiting for my muffler or exhaust piping to break so I have an excuse to buy a new performance type exhaust setup. When it actually does break, i'll probably be 90 and not want a performance muffler anymore.

brosal does- its probably a decent exhaust too. this is your chance to get a truly sporty sounding exhaust though.. stock pipes wont really give you that sound. my first exhaust consisted of a single bomb muffler and stock exhaust pipes... sounded like a damn airplane!! the one i have now though is perfect for sound for what i like. it has a nice hum (very quiet) until 3-4Krpm and then it gets loud along with the engine.

true dual exhaust is going to be very very expensive, because of the work you will have to do to install the O2 sensor in an X pipe crossing the two mufflers. hp gains could be significant though.

I am not really goin for the load ass exhaust noise. If I am not gonna OEM, I want a nice exhaust that will just add a little bit of tone to it.

thats what im talking about. i hate the loud exhausts too- my exhaust is barely audible in the cabin. if you want to hear a sound clip of my 92 SE v6 w/ dual exhaust, zonis got it on his site.

heres the link:
http://zoni.freeservers.com/rev1.mp3

that is just a 2.5" catback w/ 12" resonator then split to to 2.25" pipes to magnaflow street series mufflers.

I have a 94 Camry SE that started to leak loudly at the flange connection between the midpipe and the muffler. What I found was that the nut and bolt holding the flange together had corroded away. I drilled out the old bolt and replaced it. I also filled the original spiral wraped exhaust gasket with a heavy bead of high temperature silicone gasket sealant. This repair has worked well for 15,000+ miles.
