3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
If the motor is still running you are in luck!! You can buy a mast from NAPA or ebay. I had the same problem last year on my car and bought a mast off of ebay for 15$ including shipping. Here is the website for the instructions on how to replace the mast itslef: http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/audio/powerantenna.html
I know it's for a lexus ls400, but for a large part it's the same procedure. The only difference will be the location of the motor itself. Good luck! The only part of the procedure I would recommend skiping is when you place the new mast in, simply reassemble the motor, put it back, plug it in, turn on the radio, then wait for it to stop making the grinding noise. Put in the plastic cable(put teeth facing same direction as the ones you removed) then turn off the radio and be ready to guide the new mast in and replace the trim screw, and voila!

The nylon drive thingy (technical term ) on the mast probably broke...happens constantly on these rigs. You can replace the mast, as projektvertx mentioned. However, after the third freakin' mast replacement, I did the S2000 conversion on my rig (the only non-stock item on 'er, other than the radio and the Gen4 dogbone). If you don't like the stubby look of the S2000 mast, there are zillions of masts that can be screwed into the Celica antenna socket (the first half of the conversion).

...and frequent replacements is the reason I went with the S2000 conversion. He's another DIY for ya!
ill get one at this all toyota salvage yard i mean the camry was like the best selling car for like what 5 years? hes got zillions of them
No offence, but don't cheap out on 15$ hehe... I payed up and it's really funny to see the look on people's faces in the car behind me when the mast comes up... Also, I tried the salvage yard with little success. Most will either have the mast broken off or the little plastic thingy on the inside will be broken. My 2 cents worth: it would be easier and more cost effective to simply order a new one off of ebay
