3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
suppose you all had 10k to spend on fixing/modifying your gen3. how would you all do it? and dont say buy a new car. im thinking engine work, suspension, wheels, body work, window tinting, body kit. after its been painted, that should take most of the 10k
Well. I would buy a brand new Yaris with 3 year warranty.
In other words, I do not think it makes any sense to FIX the car that costs ~1-3K spending 10 grands.
If you are talking of tune ups, I would get a supper-duper suspension and brakes and discs, install new leather seats, in dash GPS/DVD/Satellite radio and, ... well, through out the back seats and install there a 1kW subwoofer or something that guarantees a decent VERTICAL TAKE OFF acceleration.
buy a 3sgte! turbo! tints! rims! lower it!. hmmmm. repiant da car if necessary. go wit the rmm lip. and dats about it. i really wouldnt spend much on the outside. jst make it fast. dats all. u noe. make it SLEEPER.
heres what im thinking. the pistons need to be re-ringed. so have that done, along with new bearings, gaskets, and valve stem seals and guides. then a new exhaust system with 2.5" piping and an hks muffler with a magnaflow resonator. nice and quiet, but free flowing. then get some rims and lower it on JiC coilovers. that'll be about 4k there. then a gen3.5 bumper and headlight conversion with the rmm lip, along with some sideskirts and razzi rear valence. then get the bodywork and get it repainted. that'll be about 8k there. then redo the interior with heated leather seats and leather doors. new dash and console. and get it cleaned like crazy.
I would fix anything wrong with it mechanically, spend $300 on a new head unit and speakers. and put the rest in the bank as a downpayment towards my next car.
