Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Hey there,
I'm fairly new to toyotanation.com. Just got myself a 3rd gen camry a few months ago and i'm running into probs with it already. So here it goes:
When i exit the highway taking an off ramp, i'll get to a red light and stop, and thats when the car will start stalling and jittering. When i hit the gas it gets better, but when i let go of it...it begins to do the same thing. Only once have i just sat there to see what it does and it just turned off with the engine light and the oil light illuminated on the dashboard. This only happens when i get off the highway and not while im on it or even before i get on it.
Clean your throttle body and do a tune up unless you've done it already.

Thank you Denice25 for the welcome and thank you 96paseo for the advice.
I was thinking about the tune-up, but just wasn't certain. I'll probably have that done within next week and i'm gonna look into cleaning the throttle body seeing as how i've never done it.
As for cleaning the Throttle body, you should find a few threads on it. You didn't meantion which engine but if it's the 4cylinder--very easy. Just a matter of taking off the intake hose and going to town on the butterfly with a good efi-safe cleaner and old toothbrush.
The tune up is a cinch as well and you'll find many threads on here too.
Try all of that and then we'll talk seafoam if you need it.
Good luck!
Fumester.

Brake lights aren't broken, I just don't brake.
--Can honestly go to a parts counter and ask for brake shoes for the front brakes.

sound like this is the famous (ECT) Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor malfunction again, my guess is the problem is getting worst gradually, and you should able to restart the car at beginning, and as time progress, like weeks or months later, you will have to wait for engine to cool down.
do a search on ECT related topic here, it has been discussed many times.
Thank you everyone for your suggestions and welcomes.
I just bought a motomaster Throttle body spray and 'went to town' as RningOnFumes mentioned :P.
The only thing is, when i was undoing the intake hose to where the throttle body is...and i saw that the hose had ducktape around it and instantly i think 'F@*#'....i undid the tape and find this ugly tear in the hose. And instantly i thought that it could be because of this that it's giving me the stalling problem. So i sprayed it and brushed it with an old toothbrush and kept brushing and such. I've put it all back together, put on some new ducktape till i can get that hose replaced and now i'm playin the waiting game till 2morrow when i go to work to see if the problem persists. Let me just mention that this problem would happen occasionally and not all the time. I'll update you guys!
Thanks Again!
its a 4 banger!
and ye im gonna go to a junkyard.
already cleaned throttle..it was fairly clean when i began so i no it didn't really make a difference...
it STILL hasn't done the stalling thing so i think it's fixed. thx guys...
but now im doing what i can to reduce as much noise and vibration as possible. any suggestions? i heard switching up the dogbone to a gen4 wouuld help reduce idle vibrations...any ideas?
thx for the advice regarding the mounts. Honestly tho im not that great as cars as everyone else may be. I know where the mounts are, but without a tutorial with pictures, i'll be paranoid as to what im doing and whether i'm doing it right. Does anyone know of any?
Just search for what you need. There's a great deal of info and tutorials on here.
As for the hose, just hit Standard Auto Wreckers on Sewells rd. They'll have the hose you need in the u-pick yard. Probably not cost too much as well. Their prices are reasonable.

FWIW, having replaced my motor mounts recently, I'd consider it a waste of $$$ unless the motor is actually thumping around when your accelerate / decelerate. The motor mounts being worn will make a idle problem more obvious, but the problem will still be there after you've spent a few hundred $$$ on new OEM motor mounts.
