3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Hi All. Just joined because my son just got a 1996 Camry as his first car. While it is in great condition I'm sure I will need some expert advice before long.
I dove right in here but can't tell how to tell what "generation" this Camry is. Any help is appreciated.
My thanks to all. It's a 6 cylinder, 1MZ-FE. LE. 155,000 miles. One owner and you could eat off the engine. Finding this car was meant to be. I have another question but will post in the appropriate place.

I think you'll find the 1MZ to be bulletproof, and if it's as well maintained as I can infer from the clean engine bay, I'll guess what it'll turn out like 50,000 miles down the road: still going strong like the energizer bunny. Take it from experience, take care of it and it will take care of you
