Exclamation Pulling out the driver side cv joint / driveshaft...

This is on a '99 avalon. After pulling on the driveshaft, it came out and had the transmission output shaft on it. I cant for my LIFE pull the stupid thing apart and get the output shaft onto the new driveshaft.

Pics

^ The short one is the new one, Im trying to get the shaft off the other

If you guys have any idea how to get this off, seriously I will friekin pay you or somethin lol

TY

It looks like you may not have the right half shaft replacement. The new one you bought looks like the older style on the early '90s toyotas. Go back to the parts place or go to another parts place and double check the correct part #. Did your existing shaft you are replacing have the 6 hex bolts holding the inner joint cup to the trans shaft?

the one on your car is a one-piece design

the one that you got as a replacement is the two piece design, similar to the one that's on your passenger side and uses 8 allen bolts to bolt up to your half shaft

Yep.. very correct. The tranny output shaft was connected to the rest of the shaft through a one piece design, and only the tranny output shaft slid out (the housing didnt come apart). There were no bolts on the original, the new one i bought was the wrong one. autozone -1

ended up going to toyota and buying one for 200.

Looks like your old halfshaft is a "snap in" type, and you bought a "bolt on" type.

Take the part (and old halfshaft for reference) back to the store and exchange for the correct type.
