4th Generation Gen 4.5 getting a facelift... Well, a new stereo and lighting anyway...

Previously had an Alpine iDa X100 ipod deck installed, now upgrading to the Pioneer Avic F90BT. I sold the alpine for 200 on craigslist, but I should have sold it to somebody on here... Guy was putting it in his boat or something... Oh well, I got back what I paid for it in the first place, so it works out.
By the way, if you're looking for a good ipod capable deck, that one is SwEeT!

I'm also going to attempt to change the color of some of the lighting in my dash as well as some of the climate control lighting. I don't know if I'm going to go the LED route. I've seen a few applications and it just looks a little too bright.

Anyway, I'll post pics on Tuesday after I get the deck installed... Yes I'm doing it myself. I'm certainly not a professional installer, but I generally know what I'm doing.
BUT, if anybody knows anything about the VSS (Variable Speed Sensor) and how to do the parking brake bypass (not that I'm going to watch movies while driving.) please feel free to share info. I have already checked the avic411.com website for info, but thought I'd check here to see if anybody has any Camry specific tips...

Sorry - no install tips but that Pioneer looks awesomely clean.

I have the Alpine iDA also, and although the iPod controls are wicked - it still looks too UFO cockpit for me.
Got the Eclipse DD navi in my Runner and that's a great unit - but iPod track/playlist resets everytime the motor turns off

IT IS DONE!!! After spending about 4.5 hours total on ALL the wiring (GPS antenna, microphone cord, speakers, ipod cable, etc) I finally have it in. I will post pictures this afternoon sometime.
Oh and by the way, I was able to find what I HOPE was the VSS wire, and I also did the E-brake bypass so that I can control the navigation and (GASP) play a movie while driving.
The only wire I didn't hook up was the reverse gear sensor wire. I don't believe I'll ever be installing a rear view camera so really there wasn't a point hooking up that wire.

Oh and by the way, it plays videos off of the ipod touch! After reading through various forums about that topic, I didn't think I was going to be able to play videos off of the ipod touch. Only the 5th gen ipod video worked. But to my great surprise and pleasure, it does actually work! Now I can watch all my video podcasts, and just burn all my DVDs into ipod compatible size/format and just play them from my ipod... SWEET!

Curious to see the install pics. How much did you end up paying for that?

4th Generation It's DONE! And I have the pics to prove it...

Next step, leather seats and changing the lighting around... Probably changing most of it to a red color. Already have the reverse glow gauges in the dash. I'll take pics of that later.

Paid $595 total, with overnight shipping. 559 was the cost on the unit plus 34 for the shipping.
Install pics are up.
