Post The Swap Thread

I'm going to write this thread with the hope that we can put all the swapping info for camry's in one location. There is a ton of info on the forums here, but most of it is buried in either unrelated threads or in other sub forums which makes it difficult to search for. I want to outline a couple major topics/sections and build from there. these would consist of:

1. Direct motor/trans swap. putting in a new or rebuilt motor/trans from the same model and or years. For example, your 4 cylinder blew up and you want to replace it on the cheap. In this section I would like to keep any useful tips and tricks from experience as well as general information about engine compatibility between years. Direct engine removal and installation instructions are outlined in any haynes manual, but we all run into little things here and there that will help someone else doing the same.

2. 4cyl/auto to v6/auto swap. In here we will outline all parts needed from a "donor" car, engine compatibilities, and of course tips and tricks from anyone who has performed such a swap. Again, general information about removal and installation is available from the repair manual, so we will keep information here limited to what is NOT covered in the repair manual.(such as how many beers you will need) I would also like to sub-divide further to 3vz-fe and 1mz-fe specifics.

2a. 4cyl/auto to 4cyl/manual. this sub-section should consist of only information pertinent to this type of conversion, such as, parts list, parking brake relocation(if necessary) and part compatibility between models/years

2b. 4cyl/auto to v6/manual. same as above but with specific information regarding the v6 and its components. also with 3vz-fe and 1mz-fe specific divisions if necessary.

3. Stock motors to Non-stock (e.g. 5sfe to 3sgte being the most popular) In this section will will share stories of headaches, heartaches and crushed bank accounts.

4. Rear disc conversion. This section will include a complete parts list, and most likely a small DIY. Any other pertinent information as well as tricks and tips from experience would be great.

That's basically it for now. I hope we can get some write-ups from experienced members, and i will be updating sections when i have gathered correct information.
