Throttle sticking v6 coupe

I've had this problem that reoccurs probably every six months. The throttle will seem to stick and the engine with race while driving. The car is a v6 95 coupe and I've usually dealt with this by going under the hood and moving the mechanical throttle and lubing it up a little. Some time ago I seafoamed the butterfly valve untill what I thought was clean.

Today the weather was hot out again compared to the last few months of driving. After about 10 miles of driving the throttle stuck and I had to stop and car and get under the hood, cleaned the inside of the throttle as best I could and moved the mechanism around. Only to get almost all the way home and the throttle to stick again.

Is the throttle cable bad? I don't see anything frayed and I think the throttle vavle for the most part is pretty clean. Any suggestions?

Clean the throttle body again. Make sure you are cleaning both side of the valve (including the back side) and also the inside of the throttle body housing itself. Here's a good article with pictures on doing it on an I4. The V6 should be similiar.

If you remove the transmission and throttle linkages, would the throttle plate close under the force of the return spring? If so you know it's not the throttle body itself. Then check the cable.
