4th Generation 225/60R15s on 15'' aloys?

So I'm lookin to get new tires on my 99 camry soon and got factory 15 alloys (the 5 point star pattern wheels). Seems if I want to go slightly wider and stay close to stock circumference then a 225/60R15 seems to be the route I have to go. I would think this would fit on the wheel and in the fenders, but just curious if anyone has gone this route before or have insight into it?

Well you don't say if you had 14" stock, or 15" stock.

Assuming you had 15" stock wheels:

205/65/15 = 25.5" diameter
225/60/15 = 25.6" diameter

That is close as it gets to being even. And I doubt you'll have issues with rubbing.

If you had 195/70/14.....the stock diameter = 24.8"

It is widely known these Camrys are undertired. I run a 205/65/15 (from a 2002 Camry) on my 1993 Camry....and there's a lot of room left.

You probably have one the Toyota Accessory wheels like these right?

I've seen 225/60R15s on a gen4 camry before with stock alloys (same size 15 X 6). It will fit.

However, those are pretty wide tires on a narrow width rim (6"). Your sidewalls will bulge out and have more flex which will actually degrade the handling a bit.

If you want to keep the stock wheels, I would look for good performance tires in the same size rather than going wider.

I installed 205/60R16s on my Camry along with aftermarket 16" wheels. The handling sharpened up a bit and it still maintained a good ride.

Euro, I state in my post that I have 15'' wheels. Already aware 225/60R15 will be closest to stock circumference, just seeing if anyone knows how it would handle on the wheels. Tom, your thoughts are kind of what I've wondered as well. Too much flex for the wheel is my concern. Course I guess if I got something with a stiff sidewall, might alleviate some of that issue. Guess why I was hoping to hear from someone who has tried this and get their input. And Tom, my wheels are the first image you posted. Thanks

4th Generation

I have 215/60/15 on my stock alloy rims and going 225/60/15 will probably start to rub on the strut.
