1995 Camry tail ight bulb replacement

I have to replace a blown bulb on the passenger side tail light. The manual shows two screws on the side of the light housing which need to be removed to access the bulb. The problem is that there are no screws in that location so there is obviously a manual error.

I pulled back the carpet liner in the trunk and removed some screws but that simply loosened the entire tail light assembly.

How do I access that bulb?

Thanks in advance.

IIRC, once the screws are out, you (gently but firmly) pull the taillight assembly back and to the outside of the car, and what's holding it on the outside will eventually "pop!" loose.

hill8570 is correct. The screws are probably missing from your car. The lens assembly literally pops out to the side of the car. Check the other side and see if the screws are there. If they are, take one of those out and go to the hardware store to match it up and get 2 more for the original side of the car. When I first had to remove the lens on my 94 I was sure it was going to break before it popped out, but it didn't. When I do this on my car, before putting back the light housing I put some grease in the holes where the prongs go back in and make it "pop" when you remove the housing. Makes for easier removal the next time the housing has to come out.

My 95 has no screws on the outside as advertised. It does have two nuts on the inside. Removal has been described correctly.

Yep, the Haynes manual is definitely wrong. I couldn't figure it out until I read this post.
I removed the two screws but when I tried to pull the fixture out part of the housing on the inside cracked. It's on the inside so no harm really done.

It's acutally two NUTS that need to be removed... they're behind the inside of the carpeting. Nonetheless.... old thread.
