Anyone here removed their shift knob and replaced it with a aftermarket one that doesnt have a OD button?

is there any way to go without it or get around it?

any insight is appreciated.

I've had the shifter off once or twice. First, check the DIY section for the replacement WITH the OD button in the shifter. The only difference would be re-routing the wires from the original location of the OD button to somewhere else. I'd recommend putting it under the ECT button (gen3/3.5). It's only two wires for the OD button too, which is nice. Wires connected= OD OFF. Wires disconnected= OD ON. Technically, if you dont use OD, you could leave the wires disconnected and leave them alone.

U can go without it by taping the wires together and hide them underneed the console. Just bring what u have to the next meet and I can do it for you in 5 mins.

Throw a pic up here and I can tell u right away if it's doable or not. I can custom make a plastic button as long as the knod has a hole on top.

Or we can bypass everything and let the button pushed down all the time. You got to be careful when u shift though.

overdrive is technically your fourth gear in a auto tranny. having overdrive off will not allow the tranny to go into fourth, aka high rpms high speed. with overdrive off, the tranny will shift into fourth gear, aka low rpms high speed better gas mileage and such. hope this helps

its a 2 wire togle switch. ive done this twice and its easy as pie.

simply cut tthe wires and either reconnect them to the origional O/D switch or install a new 2wire switch and mount where ever ya want.

sounds like you have a manual shifter knob.

i don't think that would work without doing a lot of custom fabrication.
