I have two small SMT LED lights that are really bright. I would love to have them hooked up underneath the front driver and passenger foot area (Similar to what is shown in the picture) so when the door opens, it will light up. Does anyone have a tutorial or write-up on how to wire the LED's to the doors?

The best way to do it is going to be to tie the LEDs in with the dome light circuit. When the dome light comes on, so will the LEDs. Whether or not to use a relay is gonna be the question here. I'm not sure if the LEDs can handle the current/voltage thats running through that circuit. Anyways, check out the12volt.com for a wiring diagram. I can help more if you have questions.

no problem. I feel like i live here anymore. and uh...he wasnt asking for an LED dome light bulb, whoever posted that. But hey, thats another nice upgrade as well.
12VDC is fine. Thats what the car's electrical system is. I'd say, choose a play to mount them, and then wire them into the circuit with the dome light. The current draw from 2 LEDs should be nominal so i dont think you'll need a relay. The dome light is NEGATIVE SWITCHED by the way (the location of the door in the circuit is on the negative wire). Basically means you can run a postive 12VDC wire to the LED and then ground it to the negative wire of the dome light's circuit. I'll stop there for now. I hope this is making sense....not sure how fimilar you are with electronics.

I need to find my pics later for you. I have floor lighting myself, and hooked it into the dome wires. I actually did it on it;s own switch, so I can set it on/off/door, exactly liek the dome light.

Basically I attached the negative of the LED to the door trigger wire which is red with white lines. Its found along the side near the foot area under the trim. The other positive wire I attached to something random which had 12v power supply on it, basically every wire.
I'm planning to add another LED strip but to the outside of the car. I'm debating whether or not as to put it under the car for the front door, or actually under the front door so the light swings along with the door. Which one do you guys think I should do? It'll be easier to put it under the car but then it might look better putting it on the door itself. I'm going to have to put wires through for a tweeter anyway so that wouldn't be too much for the light itself. Not sure, what do you guys think?!
Sorry for being so slow. I just took the parts off the dash to get the pictures of how I wired it into a 3-way switch (like dome light).
Sorry for resurrecting this thread but I came across this while searching on how to wire in a 3 way. Im planning on installing the same- footwell LED's wired to dome light AND a separate 12V to power the LED's when the dome lights are off. ASG14/anyone, could you let me know how you wired yours up to a 3 way switch. The pictures ASG14 posted would have helped alot but seems like they got deleted off photobucket
