if you know your starter went bad, then go buy selenoid Kit at NAPA... you just replaced inside the starter and you save $$$... don't buy from dealer, you just buy selenoid kit...and you still have a good rebuilt the starter...

if you're not sure your starter went bad, then have Advance Auto Zone run a starter test.

If you're hearing clicking noises from the solenoid and nothing happens then it's probably the contacts are worn out. These are considered wear items and can be replaced with 2 contact kits (left and right) and shouldn't cost more than $25-30.

Or you can get a NAPA rebuilt or Bosch rebuilt/new starter (Bosch new comes with a lifetime warranty). Rebuilts should have 2-year warranty. I'd stay away from Autolite for now.

^What JohnGD said about the clicking.

If your starter is not just clicking and you need an entire rebult starter, then see if you have an auto electrical rebuilder in your area. In my experience these guys do a better job of rebuilding then the mass rebuilders who sell to the auto store chains, and you get your OEM starter back (assuming that you still have the original OEM starte in your car).
