Window Problem

I've always had something in the passenger side door panel raddling. Raddles from my subs. Yesterday my window starting acting up. Would not go up from the driver side switch but only from the passenger. It went down pretty off track also.

Now today my window will not go up or down at all. You can hear the window motor click when i press the switch to go up. It does not do anything to go down.

I have the door panel all the way off. How should i check this? If i use a multimeter i know i can figure which is not giving off current.

Anyone have a solution or idea of what this could be

The car is a 97 Camry LE 4cyl btw.

Thumbs up

ur problem might have to do with the cable mechanism getting jam. for some reason causing u to fry the passenger side switch. plug off the current wires that goes to the motor and check with your volt meter for a reading. if you do get a reading then you need to look at the motor and the cabling by unscrewing it from the glass and the door then you can plug it back to the wiring of the vehicle and see if it works then you let us know what u find so i could try to help further

good luck man

Now that a tightened the bolts down the window doesnt wanna move. Figured i torqued them down to much . Going to find a switch at the junkyard tomorrow. Trying to narrow this problem down one by one.

My passenger window on my 1997 Camry does not go down anymore. I have the door panel off and i used to be able to push it down with the drivers side switch while supporting the actual window down. It would go up with the passenger side switch.

Now it does not go down at all. The window motor makes a click sound when i push the switch up while it's all the way up.

The window did go down the other day, I put a LEXUS switch in from an ES300 and the wires heated up but it did not work. Put the old stock switch back in right away and it went down and up. Couple minutes later it did not work.

A bolt was always loose and raddled when it would go down for a while. Then the day i knew it was time to fix it was when it went down off track. Then it stopped going down completely.

So lost and wanna repair myself but i do not think that will happen if i cannot pinpoint the problem.

these switches are not hard to fix. maybe you should just open it up and clean the contacts and adjust the aluminum piece put it together and see what happens

I had something similar and the found that there was a broken wire in the driver side door hinge. It was in the clump of wiring that are surrounded by the rubber grommet. It took about 2 hours to find and bout $3 to fix with a wire splice and crimp.
