Another Valve Cover Gasket Thread

I'm planning on replacing my valve cover gaskets and ofcourse the spark plug gaskets. This is on the V6. I see whoever changed it last on my car did a shit job because both are leaking, there is silicon sticking out from under the cover in the front, and in the back they put some sort of insulation under the plenum to absorb the oil. Anyways I found a great DIY on how to take everything apart. However, I still have a few questions.

1) Where do I need to apply high temp silicon? I assume the cover has a grove where the gasket goes in? Then apply the silicon all around on the outside of the gasket?

2) Can I hand tighten the bolts with reasonable force ofcourse, or is using a torque wrench absolutely necessary?

3) When I disconnect the radiator hose running across the front valve cover is it going to be full of coolant? When I take off the radiator cap I see it is filled with coolant.

Thanks in advance.

1) Apply anywhere the gasket makes a sharp turn (i.e. corners around cam shafts), and anywhere the matting surface is not perfectly smooth (i.e. spacers near cam shafts).

2) You CAN, but if this is your first time, I recommend a torque wrench.

3) Yes, all coolant hoses and components should be full with coolant all the time. There should never be any air pockets in your cooling system.

Thanks,

I'm going to do the rear gasket now and I was wondering: when I take off the intake plenum and disconnect the throttle body to get to the rear valve cover are there any gaskets there that will need replacing as well?
