Forgot to fill torque converter while doing a rear main seal HELP

93 Camry 4 cyl
Took out the engine/trans. Put it all back. Engine runs nice but trany is completely dead. I never filled the torque converter before i installed it. Any help or suggestion ????

take it all apart and fill it up. its basically a fluid clutch, so if theres no fluid, no go.

First off, don't run it anymore until you get the TC filled.

Sorry, but you have to take it all apart again to fill the TC. All you can do is take it apart, fill it with ATF, and hope that you didn't break it.

Interesting. I may be wrong, but the ATF pump (sounds like it works as your gears engage) should have filled the converter for you. Sure, some like to prefill their converters like oil filters, but I don't think that's even necessary on the old Aisin A series transmission. BTW, these are way better than the new U-series clunkers.

If you're sure all the areas on the converter shaft are correctly aligned, then give it some time to fill up in P/N w/ parking brake of course, making sure you have the correct level of ATF in the system.

A good way to tell is to insert a short segment of 3/8" clear vinyl tubing (using 2 barbed plastic connector like $1) in the cooler line. If there are no air bubbles you should be good.

Again, the main concern would be shaft alignment.
