3rd Generation US GEN 3 cluster in CA GEN 3 car

My co-worker is having a problem with his Gen 3, 1995 Camry. Maybe it is 3.5. When he turns on the car, the speedometer moves all the way up, and then eventually it goes back, and sometimes works.

He tried replacing the speed sensor, but that didn't work. So we think he needs a new cluster.

His car has the cluster in Kilometers. Does anyone know if we replaced the cluster with one from the US, if it would work, or would we need to look at getting one from Canada?

From my experience it shouldn't make a difference. They work the same, but have a different gauge face. Guages up here have both for the most part.

How does that work for the odometer though? The needles should be in the same spot for MPH or KPH, but the actual odometer would be in Kilometers.

Went through this when I had the jeep. The odometer from what I know will be km/h if it's a km guage, and mph if it's a mph guage.

If you need to replace the guage, let me know. I can easily get a hold of one. Just cover shipping which shouldn't be too much. They're easy to take out and switch. Just a few screws. Did mine when I got the car as my odometer didn't work at all.
