4th Generation MAF sensor

HI im new here! I own a 1997 Camry LE v6..

Ive been browsing around looking for a cheap SRI alternative, other than buying one designed specifically for the camry. I decided that i'm gonna go with the spectre intake kit. However, im running into some problems with what to do with the MAF sensor. Its screwed into the intake tubing which isn't compatible with the spectre intake kit.

Do I need to buy an adaptor? Im afraid that the only way to get this to work without CEL's is to get a premade one specifically made for a 97 camry (injec,AEM, etc)...

Will this work? http://deagledeals.com/pro1238103.html
Not exactly that but an adaptor like that.... Im concerned that the sensor itself will not fit in the housing. Anyone out there that installed a SRI on a v6 camry with a MAF let me know what you did!!

THANKS!!

lol... i'm actually thinking about making a DIY for this because i did this a few months ago. there really isn't anything out there since the maf for the 1mz is retarded!!! i was so frustrated but i finally grew a pair and decided to carefully cut the section off the top of the intake box... now i still have a prblem... fitment is difficult. the cone doesn't fit excact so u'll have to do some custom madification and extra worm clamps. i took a dremal tool and etched the sides down. its a difficult job, and will rattle you. don't be discouraged though. it was fun and i'm glad i did it... actually got power, and a beasty sound now...

you will need a spctra rubber clamp/bad with 2 worm clamps, this will clamp back on the intake manifold. buy one 4" straight piece, a 6" piece with a 22* angle(i pretty sure), the section you cut off the intake box, and spectra cone... one of the adapter rings has to be turnned around and an extra 4" worm clamp needed needed to keep it in place... also a vacum tube kit for the vsv line, pcv live, the evap line. good luck!!!

Thanks!

I ended up cutting the section off with the sensor too. The part attached too the airbox. After clamping everything back up and connecting the hoses i tried to turn the car on and it wouldnt run for more then 4 seconds, the engine kept dying on me. Lol I was soo scared but it turns out that i had the MAF sensor on backwards!

But after repositioning everything worked out, its looks very nice and somewhat professional. And the sound is awesome

I saved like 100 bucks by going with the spectre intake kit im very pleased.
