3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
So for all of you that have followed the saga of my car, I have received my car this evening!!!!! So I wanted to post some pictures of what my car looked like about a week before the crash, after crash, in the middle of repairs and after repairs:
So here is 10 days before:
Here is after the crash:
Here is the middle of the repairs:
And here is what you have all been waiting for, AFTER THE REPAIRS!!!!!
Keep in mind, that is the original fuel door paint!!! They did an AMAZING paint match, and to make me feel better, they gave her a full body polish/buff. Two weeks later, I was VERY exited to get my car back!!! It felt almost weird to be back in my car, but it felt nice

Thanks for the positive comments guys. I was almost jumping with joy when I saw the car. It actually looks better than before the accident My only complaint is that they put 'LE V6' rather than 'V6 LE', but hey I can't complain, not with that kinda nice repair!! My biggest fear was that the paint wouldn't match the rest of the car and that the plastic at the bottom of the trunk lid(the part that says 'CAMRY') would look different that the trunk lid
To ASG14: Does this earn me a custom AS&G intake?
To eyeball96: Hehe yes she lives on She will be getting DEPO's and HID's rather than the projector retrofit I had initially planned... I have the HID kit n relay, just waiting on the DEPO's
A lot of people thought she would be totalled but the shop manager really helped me to keep the car. He 'built' the estimate based on the idea I was trying to keep the car. He also convinced insurance that it was better for them to repair the car than to dish out the value of the car.

Well I for one am very happy for ya! Im a little excited myself! Does she still ride well at ALL speeds? And just curious are you going to do any instrument cluster / dash mods?
Deadly Sushi: Well, let's put it this way, I drove her to 85 MPH(post repair of course) and nothing felt out of place pre and post repair. Like i mentioned in the original thread, it was a 37 mile hike back home after getting rear ended, all freeway and I felt nothing out of place on the way home. As for the instrument cluster, I had in mind that I might do it, but my cluster is in KM/H, it being a car from Canada, and I haven't been able to get ahold of reverse glow gauges in metric.
ASG14: I was messing with ya, althought I wouldn't mind buying one of those
To Bigbird: Thanks It was very close to being called a total loss. But the manager was admant that he would save my car. Like I said before, he taked insurance into accepting cause it costs less than the car is worth, n he pressed them on the good condition of the car itself and that it could easily last a few more years no contest. I guess he really wanted my recommendation, the insurance cash, or both

I called that total too haha. Mind telling us how much it cost for that fabulous body work ?
Of course I don't mind, after all I didn't pay for it The initial estimate was 3001$, the final cost was 3253$. I was very luckly I was hit by someone with insurance. In our area, you can't even being to imagine how many people have no insurance or are driving on expired licenses. And yes the car looks better than it did pre-collision I'm actually considering getting the shop some pizza on Monday for saving my car.

Congrats! Just went through this same kinda crap myself. Luckily the guy that was handling my case at the body shop is very pro toyota and could see all the work I put into it, so he worked to be able to save my car. I was actually given the choice of getting if fixed or taking the cash.
It's a nice feeling finally getting it back and sitting in the drivers seat again no? [especially if you don't like the rental Ford focus! LOL]
